SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Army paid rich tributes to two soldiers, who were martyred in an encounter with militants in district Baramulla.
Meanwhile, tributes were also paid to a soldier, whose body was recovered last week after remaining buried under several feet of snow for eight months in world famous ski resort of Gulmarg.

An Army official told that two soldiers were critically injured in an encounter which ensued after militants attacked a joint security forces party at Kreeri in Baramulla that left three security personnel dead on Monday.
“The injured soldiers, identified as Grenadier Prashant Singh and Grenadier Ravi Kumar Singh, were rushed to Army’s 92 Base hospital where they succumbed”, he said. Three Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were also killed in the encounter.
He said the martyred soldiers were on Wednesday paid a befitting tribute by the Army in a solemn ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment, here.
“General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps (Chinar Corps), Lieutenant General
BS Raju and all ranks paid homage to the soldier on behalf of a proud nation”, he said, adding representatives from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyr.
Lieutenant General BS Raju paid tribute to the soldier, saying the sacrifice he has made is in the true spirit and highest tradition of Indian Army.
He said floral tribute was also paid to Havaldar Rajendra Singh Negi of 11 Garhwal Rifles.
“Havaldar Negi had gone missing in January this year after accidentally slipping from a snow-clad mountain while on duty near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gulmarg”, he said, adding the body of the jawan was recovered on August 15 during a search operation.
He said the mortal remains of the martyrs would be flown to their native places, where their last rites would be performed with full military honours.
