NEW DELHI, Aug 7:
Government on Tuesday said over 1.11 crore farmers in the country have been registered on e-NAM – the e-trading platform for the National Agriculture Market, which promotes better marketing opportunities for the farmers to sell their produce online.
In reply to a question during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh said since the launch of e-NAM on April 14, 2016 and till July this year, a total of 1, 11, 80, 475 farmers spread over 16 states and two Union Territories have been registered on e-NAM platform.
In response to a separate question, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said a total of 585 mandis have been integrated till March 31 on e-platform, which include 17 mandis, of West Bengal.
To increase the number of regulated mandis under e-NAM platform in various states of the country, the Government has further approved the integration of another 415 wholesale regulated markets (APMCs/Mandis) with e-NAM platform by 2019-20. (UNI)
