JAMMU, Aug 14: Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) organised an orthodontic camp to spread the message of the orthodontic among the specialists and masses at Ved Mandir Amphalla, here today.
The dentistry has nine specialities in which orthodontics is the first speciality of dentistry and currently only three percent of dentists are specialised in the orthodontics.
The Indian Orthodontic Society in its initiative of creating awareness of orthodontic speciality among other specialists and common masses is conducting a car rally across the country. The rally is being conducted in five zones across the country and this is the first time that UT of J&K is also participating in this national rally.
Public awareness camps are part of this initiative taken by the orthodontic specialists of Jammu. In first of its event today a orthodontic awareness camp was organised by Orthodontic Specialists of Jammu for underprivileged children, led by Dr Akshay Gupta HOD Orthodontics of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College which was joined by Dr Abhimanyu Rohmetra, Dr Yasir, Dr Ajaz and Dr Vikas.
The check-up of nearly 136 children was done during the camp and they were also educated to know about ill effects of irregular teeth and also aware how to prevent certain malocclusion by keeping natural teeth healthy and by avoiding certain habits which may lead to irregular teeth.
Medicines as required were distributed among the children. Later all the children were given toothpastes, sweets to commemorate it with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The programme ended with the National Anthem.
