BILLAWAR, Apr 5: Union Minister and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary constituency Dr Jitendra Singh said today that, during the ongoing election campaign, the opposition is trying to deflect from 5 years’ development achievements because they have no answer to explain as to how so much development could take place in Kathua-Udhampur-Doda within a short span of five years, which the Congress and its allies could not bring about in 65 years.
Addressing well-attended public meetings in Billawar Assembly segment, along with former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Dr Jitendra Singh said, throughout the five years, the focus of the Modi Government has been on “Vikas” (Development) and even during the ongoing election campaign, the BJP has kept the main emphasis on development regardless of caste, religion or region, based on Modi’s Mantra of “Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas”.
However, rattled by the revolutionary transformation witnessed in the last five years, the Congress and other candidates are making a vain attempt to rake up emotive issues in a futile bid to turn away the public attention from the development works of last five years, he said.
What the opposition contenders, nevertheless, forget is that, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the majority of voters today are youth who go by evidence and are capable of appreciating the difference between “before” and “now”. That is the reason, he said, #SelfieWithDevelopment campaign has gone viral on the social media, wherein youngsters are fondly taking their pictures in front of the various development projects brought in the constituency during the last five years and celebrating the “Vikas”.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the campaigners of the Congress and its allies have failed to build up a false perception and propaganda that they are not able to see any development. He said, while we sympathize with their selective visual disability, the youngsters among us are retorting to every lie and falsehood of Congress with an evidence-based truth, and will continue to do so as many times as required.
Speaking at these meetings, Dr Nirmal Singh lauded the valuable role played by Dr Jitendra Singh as MP and Union Minister for getting several national-level important schemes and proposals for the State in general and particularly for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency. He said, whenever from the State Government a proposal was sent to the Centre, Dr Jitendra Singh would always keenly follow it up and with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we could get projects worth Rs 600 to Rs 700 crores for Billawar Assembly segment alone.
