Opium cultivation destroyed in Darhal villages, 5 booked

RAJOURI, Apr 4: In a major success, Rajouri police  today  destroyed cultivation of opium crop from the fields in Darhal area thereby, preventing inflow of intoxicating substance in the society.
Recently police team from Darhal headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer Thanamandi, Iftikhar A Chowdhary and SHO Darhal, Habib Pathan developed some specific inputs about cultivation of opium crop in some fields after which a special team was deputed and input of opium crop growth got authenticated.
The crop was grown in fields of Chowkian and Dodaj villages of Darhal and five local residents including Mohd Ikhlaq, son of Ghulam Mustafa, Abdul Majeed son of  Mohd Sharief, Haji  Ghulam Rasool, son of Mohd Sharief,  Mohd Shakoor, son of Mohd Shafi, all residents of Dodaj, Darhal and Mohd Sakal, son of Karamtullah Malik, resident of  Chowkian, Darhal, were  found involved in illegal cultivation of opium crop.
Today, the teams of police headed by SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar Chowdhary and SHO Darhal  assisted by concerned Revenue staff raided the said areas and after hours long operation, succeed in destroying opium crop.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police have registered a case FIR No 19/2018 U/S 08/18 NDPS Act  at Police Station, Darhal and efforts to nab all the accused were going on. Operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Rajouri,  Yougal Manhas.
