SRINAGAR:
Launching online College Admission Portal (CAP) in the Kashmir valley, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar today said this will help to streamline admissions. The online admission process through the portal has been launched for 11 colleges in Kashmir on pilot basis.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister said the online admission process was overdue for the colleges and it will not only help streamline the admission process, but also make it easier and hassle free. He also said soon the facility will be extended to other colleges in the State.
Mr Akhtar said the online facility will aid in developing a database of the students and will also facilitate in regulating the admission in more transparent manner. He said it will help maintain a proper data of the number of students in accordance with the intake capacity of the colleges.
The Minister said that the system will be further fine-tuned in the next session so that admissions are made strictly as per cut off merit. It will also help the students to get to know about lesser known colleges and the courses available in them.
