One killed, six injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Feb 18: An unidentified man was killed while six others were injured today in separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, an unidentified man was killed on the spot at Kaluchak area of city outskirts when an unknown vehicle hit him this evening. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for conducting post mortem tomorrow.
In this connection, a case FIR No 18 under Section 304 A RPC was registered at police station Gangyal and further investigations were underway.
In RS Pura area, a scooter-borne youth and his pillion rider were injured when a bike bearing registration number JK02BF-8982 hit their scooter bearing registration number JK02AB-2705. The injured youth identified as Rajneesh Kumar (25) son of Ram Krishan and Vishal Chowdhary (19) son of Ram Kumar, both residents of Bajjachak, were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In another accident at RS Pura, a pedestrian identified as Kuldeep Singh son of Harna Singh of Chanduchak was hit and injured by a scooter bearing registration number JK02Q-0929. In the mishap, the rider of the scooter, Vijay Kumar (50) son of Girdhari Lal, a resident of Ward No 8 (RS Pura), also received injuries, as his scooter got slipped after hitting the pedestrian. Both the injured were shifted to Government Hospital RS Pura from where Vijay Kumar was later referred to GMCH. In both cases, separate cases were registered at police station RS Pura.
A pedestrian identified as Garu Ram son of Nandu Ram, a resident of Marh, was hit and injured by an unknown mini-bus in Parwah area in Marh block. He was immediately shifted to GMCH for treatment. Domana police had registered a case in this connection.
At Marble Market in the jurisdiction of police station Channi Himmat, a Wagon R car bearing registration number JK21B-6016 driven by Ashok Kumar son of Hari Singh, a resident of Badoli, Samba, hit a scooty bearing registration number JK02AH-2994 and injured its rider identified as Saroop Lal son of Kishore Ram, a resident of Channi Himmat. The injured man was shifted to GMCH for treatment. After registering a case in this connection, Channi Himmat police arrested the accused car driver, who was later released on bail.
