JAMMU, Oct 15: A person was killed while six others were injured today in separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, two youth identified as Ashwani Kumar (22) son of Shallo Ram, resident of Makwal (Sohanjana) and Arun Rashid (17) son of Mohd Mirza, resident of Babliana (Satwari), got serious injuries when the bikes on which they were travelling, collided with each other at Jeevan Nagar (Digiana) near Shiksha Niketan School.
He said both the injured were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where Ashwani was declared as brought dead by the doctors while Arun was responding to the treatment, when the last reports came in. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at concerned police station.
Another mishap occurred at Shastri Nagar where two youth identified as Rahul (18) son of Kirpal, resident of Shastri Nagar and Mandeep son of Tarsem Lal, resident of Sanjay Nagar were injured when the bike on which they were travelling, was hit by an unknown vehicle.
In Udeywala area, an unknown vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian, who was identified as Ramesh Kalhotra (32) son of Bansi Lal, resident of Udeywala. A motorcyclist identified as Puneet Kotwal (27) son of Ram Parsad, resident of Janipur, was hit and injured by a car at Janipur.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Harpreet (28) wife of Narinder Pal, resident of Rani Talab (Digiana) was injured when the scooty on which she was travelling was hit by a bike at Digiana.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment while in all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
