One killed, one injured as truck rolls down

RAMBAN, Dec 11: The driver of a truck was killed while the cleaner injured when the truck they were going on, rolled down the road and fell into River Chenab.
According to a police spokesperson, a truck bearing registration number JK21B-7830 loaded with fodder was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar when on reaching Ramban near Shan Palace, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it skidded off the road and fell into River Chenab.
On getting information, a police party of police station Ramban immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Both driver and cleaner were immediately rushed to District Hospital Ramban, where doctors declared the driver of the truck as dead and referred the seriously injured cleaner to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
The injured cleaner has been identified as Kuljit Singh, a resident of Rakh, Samba while the driver has been identified as Amandeep Singh (29) son of Manjeet Singh, a resident of Nanga, Ramgarh.
The body of the deceased driver was shifted to mortuary room of District Hospital, Ramban.
A case in this connection has been registered at police station Ramban and further investigations are underway.
