SRINAGAR, June 11: One person was killed and thirty five others injured today in different road accidents across the Kashmir valley, police said.
A woman, Sumaira Hamid,21, daughter of Abdul Hamid Bhat of Babapora, Habakadal, Srinagar, was killed when an Alto car (JK01P/7560), on way from Naranag to Srinagar, she was traveling in rolled down into a deep gorge near Wanghat, Ganderbal. Sumairia died at the site of accident while another person, Asif Iqbal son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din of Soura, Srinagar, was critically injured, police said. Iqbal was rushed to SKIMS, Srinagar, for treatment, they said.
Mohammad Farooq Tandwa son of Soahiya of Mamar, Kangan, was injured when a Maruti Car (JK16/2942) rammed into a culvert railing at Bypass near Benhama, Ganderbal, police said. He was shifted to local health centre, police said.
An Auto (JK03B/0820) driver, Javed Ahmad Sheikh son of Ali Mohammad of Shodigali, Qazigund, was injured when his vehicle collided with an Alto car (JK03D/1261) Shampora crossing, Kulgam, police said. They said Sheikh was rushed ton hospital for treatment where from doctors referred him to SKIMS, Srinagar. Police said they have filed a case against the Alto car driver, Raqeeb Ahmad Magray of Dooru.
Three passengers were injured when a Sumo (JK05A/1655) on way from Rohama to Khanmoh met with an accident at Shitloo, Sopore. The injured were shifted to local health centre, police said.
Seven more passengers were injured when two LP passenger vehicles (JK01F/2328 and JK01F/2238) collided near Wadipora, Budgam. The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment, police said.
In Tanghdar, three passengers were injured when a load carrier on way from Karnah to Kupwara turned upside down at Sadna Top, Kupwara. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, police said.
Elsewhere, 17 passengers were injured when a mini-bus (JK05/5082) turned upside down near Gundi Dachina, Bandipora. The injured were shifted to sub-district hospital, police said. They said a case was registered against its driver, Reyaz Ahmad Mir of Bandipora.
