One killed, 30 injured in matador accident

KATHUA, Apr 3: One person was killed and 30 others seriously injured in a matador accident which took place at village Kouag in Tehsil Billawar of Kathua district this morning. The accident took place near Kouag Sector, Billawar when a matador bearing registration number JK08C 4428 turned turtle and fell into a deep gorge which resulted in the death of one person on the spot and injuries to 30 other passengers.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Kumar 31, S/o Ramesh Kumar of Lahri.
All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital, Billawar among whom nine seriously injured were referred to GMC Jammu.

The attendants of injured persons showed their resentment and anger against the SDH, Billawar authorities alleging that there is no proper arrangement of facilities in the hospital. The injured patients were seen crying with pain on the floor of hospital. The shortage of doctors was also a handicap in treating the injured and passengers who had received multiple injuries were seen unattended in the hospital as there was no proper staff to attend them.
