KATHUA, Dec 15: A motorcyclist died while three other motorcycle borne persons were injured in two separate road accidents at Basantpur and Lakhanpur area in Kathua district today.
According to police a motorcyclist identified as Kulbir Singh, S/o Kamal Singh of Basantpur who was going on his bike was hit by a tipper bearing registration number JK08B, 4061 in the Basantpur village today.
He was immediately rushed to the District Hospital Kathua by police where seeing his condition critical doctors referred him to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Jammu but he succumbed to his injuries on way to GMC. His dead body was brought back and after postmortem at DH Kathua it was handed over to family members for cremation.
The Basantpur Police has registered a case under Section 279/337 against the driver of the tipper Swaran Singh of Karan Mada. The Police has also taken the driver into custody.
In another accident at village Chak Kohta three motor cycle borne persons were injured after they were hit by a car bearing registration number JK08 B 2147. They were taken to District Hospital and their condition is stated to be out of danger. The trio were identified as Nazir Ahmed, Lal Din and Bashir Ahmed all residents of Lakhanpur.
The Lakhanpur Police has taken the cognizance of the accident.
