One killed, 2 injured as truck plunges into gorge

UDHAMPUR, June 7: One person was killed and two others were injured today when a mini-truck rolled down into a deep gorge at Chempari in tehsil Chenani on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
According to the reports, a mini-truck bearing Registration Number JK08H-8572 was on its way from Kashmir to Jammu this morning but on reaching near Chempari on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway the driver lost the control over the vehicle and it rolled down into a deep gorge.
Locals and police rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation. However, one person died on the spot while two seriously injured persons were taken to Udhampur District Hospital for treatment. The deceased was identified as Rashid Ali (27) son of Sadiq Ali, resident of Sawal Khodi, tehsil Majalta, district Udhampur.
The injured persons were identified as truck driver Imtiaz Ali son of Shaukat Ali and Mohammed Iqbal son of Mohammed Rehan. They were later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for advance treatment.
Chenani police has registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
