One killed, 13 hurt in mishaps

A Tempo Traveler lands into gorge in Budhal area of Rajouri on Thursday.

RAJOURI, May 30: A tractor driver died in accident in Mendhar while at least 13 passengers including driver were injured when a Tempo Traveler skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Tarala near Sawari in Kandi-Budhal  area today.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place when the vehicle bearing registration No. JK07/1860 was on way to Rajouri from Daraj in Budhal. At around 10 am when the vehicle reached near Tarala, the driver lost control at a sharp curve and it landed into a gorge.
Immediately after the mishap the locals rushed to the spot.  The Army personnel  from the nearby CIF (Romeo) unit also reached along with medical team.  The police party also reached there after some time. Some of the injured were given on the spot Medical aid by the Army personnel while others were shifted to local hospital. Later, nine of them were removed to District Hospital Rajouri.
The driver, Alam Din of Daraj, also received some injuries but he managed to slip away from the spot. The police has registered a case against him. The injured were identified as Mohd Maqbool of Pattan in Baramulla, Raj Mohd of Mohalla Daraj, Jasbir Kour of Samote, Mohd Anwar of Rajdani in Thanna Mandi, Samir Bhat of Shakti Nagar in Jammu, Naseeb Mohd of Daraj, Munshi Ram of  Daraj, 4 month old Maganpreet Singh and Jasbir Kour  from Samote village.
Meanwhile, a tractor driver was killed when it rolled down in a hilly area of Sagra (Balnoi) in Mendhar today. The mishap took place when he was ploughing the field at a hilly slope. It suddenly rolled down and the driver was crushed under it. The deceased has been identified as Akeel-ur-Rehman (20), son of Mohd Saleem, resident of Sagra in Mendhar. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
