RAJOURI, Feb 25: One member of a family was killed while two others were seriously injured after a car rolled down into a Nallah in Thannamandi area of Rajouri today.
Official sources said that accident occurred on the Thannamandi-Rajouri road near Soda bridge in Rajouri district. The Alto car bearing registration number JK11G-6280 was on way to Rajouri from Thannamandi. The driver lost control and the car fell nearly 100 feet into a deep gorge/nallah.
The deceased has been identified as Gulzar Hussain (67), son of Kala, resident of Plangarh. The injured include Sikander Hussain (33), son of Gulzar Hussain and his 3 year-old son, Mohib Ahmed, both residents of Plangarh.

Locals, along with the police, rescued the victims and shifted them to the Government Hospital in Thannamandi, where doctors declared Gulzar Hussain as brought dead. The injured were referred to GMC Rajouri for further treatment and their condition is reported to be serious.
After completing post-mortem and other formalities, the police handed over the body to the family.
Following the incident, local residents staged a protest, blaming the Public Works Department (PWD) for the poor condition of the road. They alleged that potholes on the stretch caused the accident and accused officials of failing to take action despite repeated complaints.
Protesters also criticized the absence of crash barriers at the accident site, highlighting official negligence despite the known risk. The locals demanded immediate road repairs and installation of safety measures to prevent further mishaps.
