BHADERWAH, Apr 15: J&K Medicinal Plants Board and Health and Medical Education Department here today organized a one-day meet of all the stakeholders to review the scope and promotion strategies for Medicinal Plants in the district.
The event was graced by the guests including Padmashree Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Union Secretary, Union Ministry of AYUSH along with Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, Vaidya Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, Dr. Mohan Singh and Prof. Dr. Mita Kotecha.
The event commenced with the traditional lamp lighting and recitation of national anthem.
Attendees had discussions on the documentation of local medicinal plants, cultivation techniques and the establishment of herbal gardens in the area.
Information was displayed on large LED screens to underscore the importance and benefits of medicinal plants and their geographical locations, fostering awareness among attendees.
Progressive farmers shared their experiences, elucidating both traditional and modern cultivation techniques for yielding traditional medicinal plants. Touqeer Bhagwan, a pivotal figure in district’s lavender farming, shared insights into cultivation and promotion efforts.
Deputy Commissioner, Harvinder Singh emphasized on the significance of promoting local plant species to bolster the economy and create opportunities for youth in the agricultural sector.
The chief guest lauded the efforts of progressive farmers and urged for the establishment of herbal gardens for local medicinal plants.
The event underscored broader efforts of AYUSH Department in India to integrate traditional medicine systems with modern healthcare practices.
