RAJOURI, Mar 9: The J&K Excise Department today conducted raids at various villages of the district and arrested one person for possessing illicit liquor while 80Kg Lahan and eight litres of liquor was destroyed on the spot.
The raids were conducted at villages Kalalkass, Gunni, Nursing Pura, Sagyote, Argi Dalhori and other adjoining areas by the sleuths of Excise Range Rajouri led by Mohd Pervaiz, Excise Inspector, under the supervision of Farooq Chowdhary, Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range, Rajouri-Poonch.
During the course of raids, a man identified as Shammbu Nath son of Nanak Ram, resident of Dalhori, was arrested and booked under J&K Excise Act, 1958 for possessing illicit liquor. About 80 Kg of Lahan and eight litres of illicit liquor was also recovered during the course of raids and destroyed on the spot.
The raids were conducted on the directions of Mohd Javed Khan, Excise Commissioner, J&K Government and Ghanshyam Singh, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu.
