Omar welcomes resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue

SRINAGAR:Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today welcomed the resumption of Indo-Pak talks, hoping that the dialogue is sustained over the long term for results.
“Resumption of the Indo-Pak dialogue is a welcome development. I only hope that this time it is sustained over the long term for results,” Omar wrote on micro blogging site Twitter.
He said though Pakistan had not mentioned Kashmir, the issue would receive its due attention.
“We expect that in spite of Pakistan not mentioning Kashmir at all that the issue of Kashmir will receive its due attention going ahead,” Omar said.
The National Conference Working President said the resumption of talks was a good first step but as there have been too many breaks in the process in the past, it would not excite the people here much.
“We’ve seen too many breaks in this process to allow today’s announcements to excite us much here in the valley but it’s a good 1st step,” he said.
Omar said the spokespersons should do less chest thumping otherwise the process gets derailed.
“And a little less chest thumping from spokespersons claiming victory because that’s a sure shot way to derail the entire process,” he said. (AGENCIES)
