Old, rusted shells recovered from canal

JAMMU, Apr 24: Two old and rusted shells were recovered today in a canal opposite Cremation Ground, Shastri Nagar, during de-silting work.
According to SHO police station Gandhi Nagar, Inspector Paramjeet Singh, the labourers engaged in de-silting of canal at Shastri Nagar near Cremation Ground found two very old and rusted shells, about 4 pm.
On getting information, a police team immediately reached the spot and took the shells in their custody.
The officer further informed that Army was informed about the recovery. “The Army officials informed that the shells recovered were used very earlier by the Army and presently they are not in use”, he added.
He said, “We have taken custody of the shells, which will be destroyed tomorrow”.
