JAMMU, July 22: OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Federation (AIBCF) and united forum of presidents of different OBC castes and communities will organize a joint protest at Hari Singh Park, here at 10:30 am on July 25 against the discrimination with the OBC masses of Jammu and Kashmir by the Union Government.
The decision to hold the protest was taken in a joint meeting of all these OBC associations held today under the banner of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra and chairmanship of Kasturi Lal basotra (chairman of MBC Mahasabha).
The meeting said that the protest will be held against the discriminatory behavior of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor of J&K towards OBC people of J&K.
All those who attended the meeting strongly condemned the SO 537 dated 19-10-2022 of Social Welfare Department issued on the recommendations of Justice GD Sharma (Chairman, J&K Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission) which is working against the Mandal Commission identified J&K OBC castes and communities as the Backward Classes Commission was constituted by the Modi Government without non-OBC members in it.
The speakers said that this Backward Classes Commission should be disbanded as it is working against OBCs. They further said that as J&K is now Union Territory, all Central laws are directly applicable to it but still the Government of India as well as J&K Administration is depriving the OBC masses of Union Territory from their fundamental constitutional right of 27% reservation.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Sham Lal Choudhary (convener, OBC Mahasabha), Mohan Lal Pawar (general secretary, OBC Mahasabha), Manohar Lal Tidyal and Raj Kumar Chalotra.
