JAMMU, May 15: Though there was no report of any fresh shelling in any part of Nowshera or Manjakote sectors in Rajouri district today, the number of migrants swelled to 4527.
As per reports, 1537 people from nine forward villages of Nowshera sector have reached the migrant camps in Nowshera town while 3000 others have taken shelter in the houses of their relatives.
Nine villages, which have completely been deserted by the border dwellers, included Khamba, Sarya, Bhawani, Kalsian, Anwas Bhandar, Manpur, Dhanaka, Khori and Ganiah, which were located close to the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, where three civilians have been killed and half a dozen others injured during past five days.
Authorities were maintaining strict surveillance on the developing situation along the border villages of LoC.
However, there was not report of shelling in any part of Nowshera or Manjakote sectors today.
Though sound of some gunshots was heard in forward areas of Nowshera, Army denied any ceasefire violation on the LoC today.
