JAMMU, Aug 24: Demanding that all the extra charges in the admission fees for various UG and PG courses should be waived off, NSUI and National Secular Forum today submitted separate memorandums to the Cluster University administration.
The NSUI activists, under the leadership of District President Sunny Parihar, submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor and Dean Academic Affairs of the Cluster University demanding that Pool Fund , Sports Development Fund , Department Development Fee and other charges in the admission fees should be waived off.
“Even as the same courses are being offered by both Jammu University and Cluster University Jammu, the fee charges of the latter are very high, which is highly objectionable and amounts to fleecing the students,” said Sunny Parihar adding that economic crisis due to covid-19 lockdown has hit almost every family, particularly low income class who have no source to deposit heavy fees for admission of their siblings.
NSUI also demanded that the students who come under EWS category and BPL category may be exempted from paying the fee for this current session so that students from economically weaker sections may go for higher education.
Meanwhile, a delegation of NSF met Controller of Examination Cluster University Jammu and took up the issue of relaxation in fee and extending the last date of submitting admission fee.
The NSF delegation, led by Papinder Singh and Taniya Jasrotia, apprised the Controller of Examination and Dean Education about the problems being faced by the student community in varsity and put forth their views. They said for the pasts 6 month, the students were unable to utilize those facilities for which they had paid in their earlier annual charges or at the time of their admission while the prevailing circumstance are not favorable for the low income families to pay same fees.
The Controller of Examination and Dean Education of Cluster University Jammu gave a patient hearing to the students and assured to look into the issues at the earliest.
