JAMMU, Mar 29: To register their protest against the PDP-BJP Government over the issue of controversial SRO-202, NSUI activists today played roadside vendors and put vegetable stalls in front of Jammu University main gate.
The protesting NSUI activists, who were joined by some university students, carried tag of their academic degrees while selling the vegetables as a mark of protest against SRO-202, rising unemployment and insensitive attitude of the Central as well as State Government towards the future of youth.
The protesting NSUI activists raised slogans against the Government and demanded immediate revocation of SRO-202. They threatened to continue protest all over the State till the alliance Government rolls backs its anti youth policy.
While speaking on the occasion, the NSUI State president Raqeeq Khan said that J&K Govt was taking a stubborn stand on the unfair provisions of SRO-202, which is turning non-gazetted employees into slave labour. He also added that the Government must listen to the genuine concerns of those who are opposing this policy. He said that legislators have doubled their salaries which is 23 times more than these young recruits will receive for five years. “While the legislators have expanded the employment benefits available to them, the employees on probation will not even receive TA, DA or HRA. Such disparity is unacceptable,” he added.
Probationary Incharge NSUI J&K, Shadab Khan, also said in a statement that the SRO-202 was meant to hurt the dignity of educated youth.
NSUI leaders, who took part in the protest, included Amjad Bhat, Umar Wani, Ajay Kumar, Vishal Kotwal, CK Sharma, Rahul Bhagay, Shahid Ayoob, Satish, Mumtaz, Anuj and Akshay.
