JAMMU, June 7: National Secular Forum (NSF) today protested against BJP-PDP coalition Government for the shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir.
The protest was led by NSF president, Sukhdev Singh, who while addressing the protestors said BJP had been raising issue of discrimination at all the forums but ever since it joined the Government as coalition partner its leaders have themselves adopted a silent posture.
He said the recent developments had created a lot of commotion with people of the Jammu region feeling the heat of the statements of the Chief Minister, who had categorically declined to give AIIMS to the Jammu region, besides terming the artificial lake project as non-feasible.
He further said, “Centre announced establishment of AIIMS in Jammu but the Kashmiri leadership manipulated the whole things and cleverly managed to say that AIIMS will be established at Kashmir but the BJP ministers and leaders maintained absolute silence over the issue while the other regional parties have been fighting the issue on roads.”
Singh said that Kashmir has been bestowed with SKIMS, which is a premier institute equivalent to AIIMS. Therefore, the latter should be restored to Jammu without any delay.
