NSF celebrates birth anniversary of Udham Singh

JAMMU, Dec 26: Jammu University unit of National Secular Forum celebrated birth anniversary of martyr Udham Singh by organizing a programme on the campus, here today.
Amid slogans like “Shaheed Udham Singh Amar Raha” “Inqulaab Zindabad” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, the NSF activists paid tributes to the martyr and garlanded his portrait.
Ankush Abrol, member JKCA & senior NC leader, was the chief guest. Sukdev Singh State vice-president NSF was the guest of honour while Dr Vikas Sharma State president NSF, presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion Ankush Abrol appreciated the initiative taken by the NSF member to remember the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. He also stressed upon the youth to shun their self-centered outlook and contribute in the development of the nation. He also said that Udham Singh was an Indian freedom fighter, considered to be one of the most influential revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement.
Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on the life history of Udham Singh, who was born on 26 December 1899 at Sunam, in the princely State of Patiala.
