JAMMU, Dec 26: Jammu University unit of National Secular Forum today celebrated birth anniversary of freedom fighter and martyr Udham Singh, who laid his life for the country.
A programme in this connection was organized at JU campus wherein the NSF activists paid tributes to the martyr amidst patriotic slogans and garlanding of a portrait of Udham Singh.
Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Rector of Kishtwar Campus, JU, was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Vikas Sharma presided over the function. NSF president Sukhdev Singh was the guest of honour.
Speakers threw light on the life and supreme sacrifice of Udham Singh who was born on December 26, 1899 in Punjab and avenged Jallianwalla Bagh massacre by killing Michael O’Dwyer in March 1940.
Shohab Inayat Malik and Dr Vikas Sharma said that the real tributes to the martyrs would be eradicating evils prevailing in the society. They exhorted youth to refrain from drugs and intoxicants.
The whole programme was coordinated by Barket Ali, Ajaz Shah, Vikram Madhyal, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Jaker, Sanjeev Kumar, Amit and others.
