KARGIL, Aug 7: A team of National Security Advisory Board headed by its Chairman Shyam Saran today had a meeting with LAHDC Kargil and district administration.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Chief Executive Councilor Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councilors Haji Ghulam, Amir Kamran and Syed Kazim Sabere, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Fida Hussain, SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar, Chief Engineer Vijayak Anil Kumar and other district officers.
Mr Saran sought suggestions for development of the border district and also reviewed the progress made in the implementation of Border Area Development Programme. Mr Akhoon projected the demand of air connectivity during winters, speeding up of work on Zojjila Tunnel both at Z Morh and on the main Zojjila Tunnel from Baltal to Menmarek, diversion of NH1D from Gumri from the Mushkow side, construction of 113 Panikhar Pahalgam road, improvement and maintenance of the Kargil Zanskar road etc.
Talking about connectivity other than road, he demanded improvement in BSNL services, satellite phones/ advanced technology for Police Posts situated at far most places like Minagmarg etc and special clothings for the Police Personnel during winter.
To reduce unemployment in the district, he demanded recruitment of unemployed youth of Kargil in various armed forces. Mr Akhoon further demanded induction of 6 new blocks under BADP Scheme.
The CEC handed over a memorandum on behalf of the people of Kargil to the visiting team.
