JAMMU, Apr 21: Perturbed by the assault and humiliation of the soldiers by the subversive elements in Kashmir, followed by the State Government registering FIRs against the Army men for appeasing the anti-nationals, a large number of NPP activists led by party chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh gheraoed Dy CM Nirmal Singh’s official residence at Canal Road here today.
The angry protesters amid raising anti- BJP and anti-coalition slogans demanded withdrawal of all FIRs against the Army officers and invocation of seditious charges against saboteurs in Kashmir. They were stopped by the heavy contingents of police who put up huge barricades in front of DyCM’s official residence.
While addressing the media, Harsh Dev divulged that the incumbent Government had been placating and pampering the frenzied anti- nationals and stone pelters who had fearlessly assaulted and manhandled the CRPF personnel on duty in Kashmir. He lamented that it was a bizarre situation where the Indian soldiers were slapped, heckled, stoned, jeered, and humiliated. He said that the history bore the testimony that our ‘Sainiks’ had always volunteered themselves to face death smilingly on the borders while fighting the enemy but assault on them by the berserk and frenzied saboteurs had disparaged the entire Army and the Nation of 130 crore Indians.
He said that the Indian Army had relentlessly protected our sovereignty and integrity but their victimization at the hands of anti-national elements in full public view had raised the question mark on the credibility of the BJP partnered Government. Inculpating the sinister alliance for the turmoil and mayhem in the State, Harsh Dev expressed shock over the FIRs registered against the Army and BSF by the State Government buckling under the pressure of anti-national elements.
Yash Paul Kundal, president Youth wing of the party said that BJP which was already exposed for its demagoguery and impuissance had now been hand in gloves with PDP in glorifying rebels and humiliating security forces besides martyrs. He said that Panthers party would expose and unveil the treacherous betrayals and political sins committed by the Saffron brigade and shall intensify its stir in near future.
