JAMMU, Apr 23: The activists of  National Panthers Party (NPP) held protest demonstration against the practice of  Darbar Move in front of Raj Bhawan here today.
A large number of party activists led by State president Balwant Singh Mankotia, assembled near Radio Station Panjtirthi and started protest demonstration outside Governor’s House. They were shouting slogans in support of their demand. Later, they sat on day long dharna in front of the main gate of the Raj Bhawan.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Mankotia  said that Darbar Move practice was started  by the then Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1872. At that time means of communication were very less and the information technology was very poor so the step taken by the then Maharaja was very justified. But during these modern times, it is wasteful exercise and unjustified act.
The NPP leader demanded that the Civil Secretariat should work here on the pattern of  J&K High Court, which means that Secretariat should work at both the places throughout the year. He said the Ministers and top officers should keep on moving at both the places and the files should not be moved.  “By doing so, Rs 300 crore wasteful expenditure can be saved,’’ Mr Mankotia said adding that  NPP would continue its fight for this cause.
Panthers Party activists also raised slogans against the CAPD authorities for their failure to provide ration to the people. They alleged that people are suffering for want of ration and the department has totally failed to supply essential commodities to the general public in the State. They sought intervention of State Governor NN Vohra in this regard. District president Jammu, Kamal Singh Jamwal and Shanker Singh Chib provincial secretary also addressed the gathering.
