Notorious thief arrested with stolen gold worth Rs 15 lakh

JAMMU, Sept 10: RS Pura police arrested a notorious thief along with stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh.
This was stated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Shridhar Patil while interacting with media persons here today.
“Sohan Lal alias Sonu, son of Tarsem Lal, a resident of Chakroi RS Pura was caught when a special team led by SHO RS Pura Police Station Inspector Jai Pal Sharma under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan started following him technically”, SSP said, adding that many time Sonu gave slip to police, went underground and was dramatically continuing with his day light thefts.
“He used to roam around the area during day time only and was in the habit of scanning the houses continuously. Wherever he found a house with a lock, he quickly break open the lock and carried out his activity”, SSP Shridhar Patil said.
SP Headquarters Jammu Raja Aadil Hamid and SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan were also present during the press conference.
“I appeal to public of Jammu that whenever they move out of their houses it is better to keep somebody at home or at least inform the neighbourers”, SSP said.
He informed that with the arrest of Sonu around six theft cases of Police Stations RS Pura and Arnia have been solved.
“Sonu is involved in different FIRs registered with various Police stations of Jammu. Police is also investigating the chain of the persons who are hand in glove with Sonu”, SSP informed.
On the disclosure of the arrested accused, police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh, SSP Jammu added.
