Notorious lady burglar among 6 arrested with stolen vehicles, gold ornaments

JAMMU, May 15: Gandhi Nagar police arrested six thieves including a notorious lady burglar along with 8 stolen vehicles, around 50 tolas gold ornaments and Rs 1.15 lakh cash.
This was stated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Shridhar Patil while talking with media persons here today.
Divulging the details, SSP informed a special team was constituted to work out the motor vehicles and other theft cases.
The team put several persons to sustained questioning and finally nabbed five thieves along with 8 stolen vehicles, which were stolen from the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar, Bahu Fort, Bakshi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Trikuta Nagar Police Stations.
SSP informed that the arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Amin, son of Ali Mohammad and Sageen Munir, son of Mohammad Yousuf, both residents of Maithan, Chanpura Srinagar, Mohammad Sayeed Mir, son of Abdul Hameed of Dardkote, Uri Baramulla, Imran Ahmad Wani, son of Bashir Wani of Hakura, Douru Anantnag and Ajaz Ahmad Naqshbandi, son of Ghulam Nabi of Bemina Srinagar.
Patil further informed that the police team also arrested a notorious lady burglar identified as Afroza Bano alias Shabnam, daughter of Adil Ahmed Ganai of Raithan, Budgam Kashmir and on her disclosure, recovered cash amounting Rs 1.15 lakh and around 50 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh. The cash and gold ornaments were stolen by the lady burglar from the jurisdictions of Gandhi Nagar and City Police Stations.
“The modus operandi of this lady was to enter the houses in day light, commit such burglaries, if caught, she used to tell that she has come to hire the room for rent or she has to go for toilet urgently. Repetitive burglaries by this lady had created a sense of panic amongst the general public”, SSP Shridhar Patil asserted.
Further questioning of the arrested persons is going to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
The arrest and recoveries were made by SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar Inspector Gurnam Singh Choudhary assisted by Incharge Police Post Digiana SI Sandeep Bhagat under the supervision of SDPO South Ram Singh Charak, SP South Jammu Vijay Kumar and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
