JAMMU, Nov 9: The Returning Officers today issued two separate notifications for holding elections to two seats each of Jammu and Kashmir divisions for the Legislative Council, the election for which were scheduled to be held on December 3.
The Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir issued separate notifications inviting nominations for the elections to four vacancies in the Legislative Council to be filled from the Panchayat quota by Sarpanchs and Panchs.
November 16 is last date for filing nomination papers while scrutiny of documents would be held the next day. The nominations can be withdrawn till November 19 while voting would be held on December 3 and counting on December 6.
The candidates can file their nomination papers before Deputy Commissioners of all 22 districts, who have been designated as Assistant Returning Officers and Divisional Commissioners, who were the ROs.
Sarpanchs and Panchs comprised electoral college for four vacancies of the MLCs. The Panchayat members of Jammu and Kashmir divisions would elect two MLCs each.
