JAMMU, Nov 9: The Co-ordination Committee (CC) of National Conference-Congress Coalition Government is likely to meet here on November 12 to discuss strategy for jointly contesting the election for four seats of Legislative Council from Panchayat quota.
PCC (I) chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, who happened to be the CC chairman, has called Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on November 11, a day ahead of Co-ordination Committee meeting.
Reliable sources said the CLP would first discuss strategy of the Congress for the MLC elections before going in for the CC meeting. There were different views in the Congress on contesting four seats of the Legislative Council.
While some of the Congress leaders wanted the party to contest two seats of Jammu division and leave two seats of Kashmir for National Conference, there were some others, who wanted Congress to share one seat each with National Conference in both the divisions.
Sources said after the Congress strategy is finalized, the CC meeting would be held on November 12 to discuss strategy of the two Alliance partners for contesting the elections. They added that NC and Congress have decided to share two seats each.
