SRINAGAR, Jan 9: Expressing concern over a militant attack on General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) camp in Akhnoor sector in Jammu in the wee hours today, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the “ease with which the attackers have come and gone suggest that we have learnt nothing from previous attacks”.
Three civilians employed as labourers with the GREF were killed when militants attacked their camp in the wee hours today at Akhnoor sector in the winter capital, Jammu region.
“The ease with which the attackers have come and gone would suggest we have learnt nothing from previous attacks. May the deceased RIP,” Abdullah, who is the working president of main opposition National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Suggesting that the three civilians employed as labourers with the GREF, who were killed in the attack, should be paid Counter Insurgency allowances, Mr Abdullah said they may not have been armed or even in uniform but they worked and died in a defence establishment and fell to enemy bullets. (UNI)
