DODA, May 1: The locals today staged a protest demonstration in front of the office of BDO Jakyas in Tehsil Chilly Pingal.
The protest was led by DDC Member, Mehraj Malik and Sarpanches of the area were also present in it and they were demanding the release of pending payments of MGNREGA works executed in the years 2021, 22 and 23.
The protesters raised slogans in favour of their demands.
While addressing the protesters Mehraj Malik said since MGNREGA works have been implemented in their areas, neither the material cost nor labour wages have been paid to MGNREGA card holders.
The protestors said that despite repeated requests to the BDO regarding the release of payments for the works done from 2021 to 2023 nothing has been not done which forced them to stage the protest.
They claimed that mostly in all the Panchayat and in other Blocks only influential workers were paid and others were ignored.
The protesters also demanded an enquiry against BDO Jakyas and his staff for not releasing the pending wages of poor labourers.
Later on ACD Doda, SDM Gandoh, Arun Badyal and SDPO Gandoh reached the spot and assured the protesters that their grievance will be redressed at the earliest.
