JAMMU, May 1: Dhruv Sharma, a gifted middle-order batsman of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), has been chosen as a replacement for the 2024 National Cricket Academy (NCA) U-19 Boys Camp.
As per the communiqué from NCA Head, VVS Laxman, former Test Cricketer to Member-Administration JKCA, Brigadier Anil Gupta, Dhruv has been asked to join the team at Rajkot at the earliest. Dhruv has got the National Selectors nod for his outstanding contribution in U-19 Men’s Cooch Behar Trophy 2023.
He has scored a total of 346 runs in 9 innings’ of the 5 matches he has played in the season, with one century and 3 fifties. He has scored unbeaten 117 runs against Uttarakhand, besides scoring 52 and 53 not out in the two innings against Delhi and unbeaten 68 runs against Himachal Pradesh.
He has also captured 8 wickets with 3 against Uttarakhand, 2 each against UP and HP and one against Karnataka. It is pertinent to mention here that Dhruv Sharma has been a prolific run-getter for J&K in U-16 Vijay Merchant and U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy earlier also.
The Sub Committee members of JKCA including Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration, Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development JKCA and Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA have termed Dhruv as a special talent and have accredited the success of the player to JKCA’s Talent Hunt, besides his sheer-dint of hard work and transparency in the selection process.
