JAMMU, Sept 20: Non Gazzetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum held a protest demonstration at Vijaypur today against the discrimination faced by them.

The protesters demanding removal of pay anomalies under Fifth Pay Commission which was implemented in 1996. They alleged that the retired police personnel were denied this benefit till date.
They said that various Pay Anomaly Committees were formed and they have given their opinions and made recommendations from time to time but were not implemented till date.
They said, while the recommendations given by the Pay Anomaly Committees formed in 2009, 2011 were not implemented the report of Pay Anomaly Committee framed in 2012 has not been traced as it is missing from Civil Secretariat. They said now another Pay Anomaly Committee was framed last year and there are apprehensions that its recommendations will not meet the same fate as the previous committees met.
The protesters demanded that Government should intimate them the time frame by which demand will be settled which is lingering for last 20 years. They said the Finance Department sought clarifications from the Director General of Police regarding the pay anomalies to retired ASIs and Head Constables. The amount incurred in this regard was also intimated by DG to Principal Secretary, Home Department and this amount be released immediately, they added.
The protesters further demanded that the cashless Health Insurance Policy be provided to the retired police personnel on the pattern of army and other police personnel. Further they demanded a transparent transfer policy in the Police Department be framed as some employees have not been transferred from one place for last 12-13 years.
The protesters in an appeal to Chief Minister demanded release of Hardship Allowance. They further demanded promotions for those police personnel who have completed ten years service to next rank as applicable to other para -military forces.
District president Samba Raghubir Singh, Karnail Singh, Mohinder Singh, Uttam Singh, Ashok Kumar, Trilok Nath, Hari Singh, Mohammed Sharief, Balwant Singh, Sukh Dev Singh and others participated in the protest.
