Nobel Prize Committee pays highest tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary

KOLKATA: The Nobel Prize committee today paid its highest tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his 159th birthday by posting some rare photographs of the poet with Albert Einstein and Mahatma Gandhi.
” We’re celebrating the birthday of a true great: Rabindranath Tagore, who was born On This Day in 1861 in Calcutta, India,” the official Twitter of Nobel prize posted to mark the birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore.
” The first non-European Literature Laureate, he was awarded the Nobel Prize because of his profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse,” the Nobel Prize Committee, elaborated.
” Take a look at some rare photographs of Literature Laureate Rabindranath Tagore on the anniversary of his 159th birthday,” as the Committee posted eight black and white photographs, along with a coloured painting of nature.
” Did you know that Literature Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, born on this day 1861, was a dedicated painter and composer? He produced thousands of art works as well as composed the national anthems for India and Bangladesh,” the Committee said.
Vice-president of India Venkaiah Naidu also joined to celebrate the occasion.” I join the nation in paying tributes to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his Jayanti today. Gurudev, one of India’s greatest poets and thinkers, represented the best of ancient and modern Indian intellectual thoughts.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid her tributes to the poet .The State Government has declared a holiday to mark the occasion.
Matinee idol Amitabh Bachchan tweeted “- Greetings on this day the Birth Anniversary of Gurudev RabindraNath Tagore .. Poet, writer, philosopher , creator of educational institutions , of eminence .. writer of the National Anthem.” Shashi Tharoor tweeted ” Remembering Gurudev RabindranathTagore, polymath, poet, artist, lyricist, playwright, novelist & educationist, on his birth anniversary [though Bengalis celebrate 25th Boisakh on 9 May]. He gave voice to India’s soul. Let us strive for his India “where the mind is without fear”
