SRINAGAR, June 15: Government today said against the sanctioned 29599 Anganwari centres, a total of 28688 Anganwari workers exist across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a written reply to a question of MLC Vibodh Gupta, Minister Incharge Social Welfare said 2769 Anganwari workers exist at Jammu district, 810 at Samba, 1647 at Kathua, 1438 at Udhampur, 1335 at Doda, 703 at Ramban, 788 at Kishtwar, 899 at Reasi, 1639 at Rajouri, 1366 at Poonch, 658 at Ganderbal, 1108 at Pulwama, 2312 at Kupwara, 711 at Shopian, 2156 at Anantnag, 2371 at Baramulla, 790 at Bandipora, 1636 at Budgam,1169 at Srinagar, 1222 at Kulgam, 468 at Leh and 673 at Kargil.
Meanwhile, in a separate written reply to a question of MLC Surinder Mohan Ambardar, the Minister Incharge Social Welfare said a total of 38 Migrant Anganwari centres exist in Jammu, out of which 29 are at Jagti, 5 at Purkhoo and 4 at Nagrota.
The Minister said that at present there is no plan to open more Anganwari centres in these camps. He further said that the no migrant Anganwari worker has been superseded till date. “So far as the promotion of migrant workers is concerned the promotion is being made strictly on basis of seniority,” added the Minister.
