‘No-confidence motion’ against RMC Chairman

UDHAMPUR, Nov 10: `No-confidence motion’ was passed against the Chairman of the Ramnagar Municipal Committee (RMC), Makhan Lal today.
Official sources said that out of total 13 Ward Councillors in Ramnagar Municipal Committee, 10 cast their vote. Six members supported the `No-confidence motion’ while 4 voted against it, whereas, three stayed away.
Voting on the `No-confidence motion’ against Makhan Lal, began at 9.30 am in the Ramnagar Municipal Committee office. All the members who supported the motion came together to take part in the voting. After the counting of votes, the officials of the Municipal Committee at 12.30 pm announced the passing of the `No-confidence motion’.
“No-confidence motion is a part of democratic process. If the members and the Vice-Chairman of the Municipal Committee are not satisfied with the work of their President, they have the right to express no-confidence against him. The members who expressed `no confidence’ have cast their vote without any pressure, one of the members Sunil Gupta said.
Municipal Committee President, Makhan Lal said that the `no-confidence motion’ brought against him is a mockery of the democratic process along with the ruling party and other parties have done this job by joining hands with the opponents. He alleged that the ruling party managed the `no-confidence motion’ by threatening the members.
Makhan Lal had occupied the chair of the Municipal Committee as a BJP candidate. Now, when the process of no-confidence motion against him started, the BJP distanced itself from the move, the sources said.
