KOZHIKODE (KERALA), Sept 24: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that there can be no compromise on India’s sovereignty and this is something for which there is neither any room for debate nor need for any discussion.
He said, across the political spectrum of the country a unanimous consensus is expected in this regard and those who choose to differ will have to explain their position to the people of this country and will be answerable to the nation.
Speaking to media persons soon after his arrival this morning to attend BJP National Council Meeting, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Government is sensitively aware of the sentiments of people in the wake of Pakistan instigated incidence in the last few days and the response also will be in keeping with the interest of nation and expectations of the people.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed surprise that some of the political leaders and spokesmen from opposition seem to be speaking in different voices even though in the Parliament as well as during the All-Party meetings held recently, each and every political Party has made a categorical commitment to stand by the Government in dealing with the situation in Kashmir and in handling the mechanizations from across the border by Pakistan.
Reiterating the unanimous resolution passed by Parliament in 1994, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the only agenda left between India and Pakistan is how to retrieve back Pak occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) from illegal occupation of Pakistan. At the same time, anybody who challenges the integrity or sovereignty of Indian Republic will not be allowed to go scot-free, he asserted.
