JAMMU, Mar 12: Natraj Natya Kunj (NNK) Jammu’s nationally acclaimed Dogri play “Macbeth- The Crown of Blood” has been invited to Bikaner Theatre Festival, Rajasthan.
Originally written by William Shakespeare, adapted in Dogri by Karan and directed by National Sangeet Natak Akademi Yuva Bismillah Khan awardee Abhishek Bharti, Macbeth is story of a Scottish General who receives a prophecy from witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the throne. He is then wracked with guilt and paranoia.
Illuminating to the media, the president of the group, Kumar A ‘Bharti’ enlightened that “Macbeth- The Crown of Blood is highly experimental production of our group which is performed by highly professional team of NNK in many theatre festivals and the play is also been awarded this year with Best Production, Best Director, Best Music, Best Light and various Acting Awards from J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages”.
Additionally, he said that it is a thing of delight for the Dogras, Dogri language and theatre that our own Dogri language play is going to be presented in such a note worthy National Theatre event. “This event is being organized by Anurag Kala Kendra— one of the leading theatre groups of Bikaner, Rajasthan and will commence from 14th of March in which 25 teams from 15 states will perform in this eminent festival,” he said, adding that the best part is that, various film actors and directors will also be the part of this mega event.
An Erudite team of 12 artists will leave for Rajasthan on 16th of March and will present the play on 18th March, at 4:30pm at Railway Auditorium, Bikaner. The team comprehends Abhishek Bharti, Mukesh Bakshi, Akshay Razdan, Kanav Sharma, Aaditya Bharti, Niharika Sakshi, Priya Sharma, Hema Shivgotra and Anshika Sharma, Karan Mehra, Lalit Sharma, Abhishek Sharma, Shammi Dhamir and Amandeep Sharma.
