Concessional credit of upto Rs 30 lakh is extended to notified minorities by the National Minorities Development Finance Corporation (NMDFC) under the term loan scheme for economically viable venture, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
“Skilling, re-skilling, up-skilling of the target group is also undertaken under the vocational training scheme of NMDFC leading to employment of trainees,” Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla said during Question Hour.
She said trainees desirous of starting self-employment ventures are given preference under the concessional credit schemes of NMDFC. Besides, concessional credit of upto Rs 20 lakh for domestic course and upto Rs 30 lakh for courses abroad is being extended under education loan scheme of NMDFC for pursuing technical and professional courses with maximum duration of five years, the Minister said. “The schemes of NMDFC are implemented for socio-economic development of the backward sections amongst the notified minorities – Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains — through the state channelising agencies nominated by respective state governments and UT administrations,” Heptulla said.
