NMC demands A-1 status for Jammu, Srinagar

JAMMU, Dec 30: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has demanded A-1 status for both Jammu and Srinagar cities.
Addressing NMC workers meet here today, Subash Shastri, NMC President said, giving A-1 status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds to upgrade infrastructure and modernize civic amenities.
Shastri also expressed concern over the pace at which action regarding regularization of daily rated workers is taking place.
He also demanded setting up of National Wage Commission for evolving National Wage Policy throughout the country, total exemptions of DA from income tax and enhancing wages of daily rated workers to Rs 500 per day.
He further demanded benefits of recommendation of Ashok Lawasa Committee whose report was submitted over one year back to the Union Finance Minister for approval but no action has been taken in this regard so far.
Prominent among those present in the meeting were Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Romesh Sharma, Gara Ram, Natha Ram, Ram Singh, Darshan Bawa, Surinder Kumar, Sardhri Lal, Mohd Sadeeq and others.
