Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 9: A meeting of Baba Amarnath & Buda Amarnath Yatri Niyas (BABAYN) was held here to frame a roadmap to counter the propaganda and misinformation campaign launched by the separatists of Kashmir valley against the facilities being provided to pilgrims of holy Amarnath shrine.
The Meeting was presided over by Maj. Gen. (Retd.) B.N. Dhar and it was organised by the President of Baba Amarnath & Buda Amarnath Yatri Niyas, Surinder Mohan Aggarwal. Dr M M Munshi, a renowned environmentalist was the main speaker on the occasion.
The speakers said this propaganda has exposed the mindset of separatists towards annual Hindu pilgrimage in South Kashmir, as after the intervention of Supreme Court, which has asked the J&K Government to finish construction of roads and widening of passage to the shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji before snowfall, and for making better facilities for the devotees.
The meeting also discussed the various issues, regarding the annual yatra of Shri Amarnath Ji.
The meeting took serious note of the malicious propaganda launched by separatists who have questioned the directives of the Supreme Court. The Apex Court on July 20 had constituted a committee keeping in consideration the growing number of casualties among the pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Ji and to recommend measures to prevent these mis-happenings which has become a regular feature as the Court passed this order after taking suo- motto note of media reports of pilgrims’ deaths allegedly due to lack of proper facilities and medical care for them.
The speakers took serious note of  voices raised against the construction of road as this time, not only separatists and their supporters but also the Valley-centric mainstream political parties have joined hands to oppose the better facilities to the Amarnath pilgrims who visit in lakhs from different parts of the country to pay their obeisance to the holy Ice Lingum in cave shrine.
