ANANTNAG: Nipura Royals emerged as the winner of NHVL here on Thursday. Final of the league was played between Nipura Royals & Vessu Snow Leopards.
A Volleyball League for youth of South Kashmir was organised from 01 to 05 Nov 20 by 19 Armd Regt, HQ 2 Sect RR for villages adjacent to NH-44. A total of 12 teams participated in the League wherein Vessu Snow Leopards stood 2nd and Wangund King secured 3rd posn.
Zubair was adjudged the Best Player of the League & Mr Suhail Ahmed was awarded with the promising player of the League. The tournament was organised in continuation with the initiative of Indian Army to build sportsmanship among youth of South Kashmir. Brig VS Thakur, Cdr HQ 2 Sectt RR, awarded the participants and said that these kind of tournament increases the motivation of Kashmiri youth and Indian Army will persist organising such events in the future as well. Reps of district administration including DC Kulgam & DSP (Ops) Kulgam also graced the event at Vessu. Sarpanchs of all the participants village of the League also attended the event.
The aim of the tournament was to call up the hidden talent enshrouded in humble background of the remote villages. This tournament gave them an opportunity to showcase their Sportsman ship skills & competitive spirit and it also raised their confidence.
17 year old Junaid made his team proud when he was adjudged the upcoming player of the League – NHVL. Like Junaid about 80 youths from 12 remote villages of Kulgam district got an opportunity to showcase their talent & to pursue the game as their career.
Medals and Cash Prize were given to the winner, runners up team and 2nd runner up team. The tournament was a big success as these young talents were aspiring to be searched for and brought in to the lime light. The participants were grateful & happy to be part of NHVL & requested Indian Army to organise more such events in the future. Such tournaments in the rural parts of the nature will certainly make a positive difference in future.
