Nirmal Singh inaugurates foot bridge; takes stock of people’s issues

KATHUA, June 3: Speaker Legislative Assembly Dr. Nirmal Singh today dedicated 101 meter steel foot bridge constructed over Bheeni Nallah  to the people at village Katli of Billawar.
Describing bridges as key component of rural infrastructure, the Speaker said that this type of small bridges (foot bridge) prove  path breaking in overcoming the distance and adding value to life of people living in remote, inaccessible  and areas with tough terrain.
Meanwhile, Dr. Singh listened to the issues of the people at a public grievances redressal camp at village Marhoon. The locals  sought repair of existing and construction of new roads, augmentation of PHE and PDD infra, posting of adequate Government staff in Hr. Sec. School at Marhoon.
The camp was convened by the Speaker as part of his public outreach programme to get first hand appraisal of local problems and give people a feel of good governance.
For immediate relief to the water stressed areas, Dr Nirmal Singh announced Rs 4 lakh out of his CDF for augmentation of PHE infra.
Dr. Nirmal Singh also assured to resolve the issues raised by the people on priority. He also said that extending basic amenities to the people living in far off places was the prime concern of the State dispensation. He informed that several PMGSY road projects have been initiated to improve road connectivity and  promote tourism in remote areas.
Listing projects started in Billawar, Dr Nirmal Singh said that roads from Billawar to Sukrala and Phinter to Billawar, besides Katli to Marhoon, the work on which is under progress, when completed, will prove a game changer in providing connectivity as well as promoting tourism in this highly potential region.
