Nirmal Singh for timely resolution of people’s grievances

KATHUA, June 15: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today held a public grievances camp at village Derli Kalnota in Billawar and listened to their issues and concerns which were mainly related to development of the area.
Addressing the people, Speaker said that the present dispensation is trying to bring governance at the door steps of people by organizing public camps at remote and far off areas. He stressed upon the need to resolve people’s grievances on fast-track basis.
In the camp, people in general demanded augmentation of drinking water, health, power and improvement in the road networks in the area. Dr. Singh gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their grievances would be addressed in a time-bound manner.
Giving priority to the issues related to PHE sector, Nirmal Singh on the spot announced Rs 15 lakh from his CDF to augment PHE sector so that potable water can be provided to rural populace living in remote locations during summer season. He also divulged that in recent past Rs 1.5 crore has been spent on PHE sector so that people should not bear the brunt of lack of water during summers.
Speaker asked people to extend full cooperation to executing agencies in implementing the development projects in their areas and stressed on teamwork to bring in good governance and encouraged officials to freely interact with him with their ideas.
Underlining several initiatives launched by the State as well as Central Government to improve the socio-economic status of the marginalized sections of the society, Dr. Singh directed all the officers to synergize their efforts in sensitizing the masses regarding construction of houses under PMAY, construction of IHHLs, widow/handicap pension and assistance provided by the State Govt. for marriage of girls falling in BPL category under SMAS.
Later, the Speaker inaugurated a Panchayat Ghar at Derli, constructed under 13th FC in convergence with MGNREGA at a cost of Rs 35 lakh.
Earlier in the day, Nirmal Singh also inaugurated a tractor road from Kala Dabar to Kolonta under MLA CDF and inspected several undergoing development works.
