Nine killed in Ohio in second US shooting, suspect dead

WASHINGTON, Aug 4:At least nine people were killed and 16 injured in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday morning, local police confirmed.
According to the police, the shooting took place at the early hours of Sunday in city’s Oregon district, an historic neighbourhood known for its nightclubs, bars, art galleries and shops.
In a post on Twitter, the Dayton police department said that an “active shooter situation” had begun at 0122 hrs.
“The shooter is deceased. There are 9 others also deceased. At least 16 others went to area hospitals with injuries”, Dayton Police Department wrote in a tweet.
In a separate tweet, Dayton police said it had officers “in the immediate vicinity when this shooting began and were able to respond and put an end to it quickly”. It said the FBI were assisting in the investigation.
This was the second mass shooting in the United States within 24 hours. The incident came only hours after a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas which left at least 20 people dead and 26 injured.
