Nights continue to be colder; days warmer in Kmr, Jammu

SRINAGAR/ JAMMU, Feb 11: Sub-zero conditions continued in Kashmir today with Srinagar recording a low of minus 4.7°C while day temperatures stayed above normal across the Kashmir and Jammu regions.
The day temperature is continuously improving in Jammu region for the last couple of days while night temperature at Bhaderwah and Batote remains below zero.
Srinagar recorded a minimum of minus 4.7°C and it was 4.9°C below normal; Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 4.4°C against minus 5.8°C on the previous night and it was 3.4°C below normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 7.9°C against minus 8.6°C the previous night and it was 2.9°C below normal for the resort; Kokernag recorded a minimum of minus 3.2°C against minus 3.7°C the previous night; Kupwara minus 4.3°C against minus 4.4°C the previous night and it was 3.1°C below normal while Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 6.5°C against minus 7.0°C the previous night.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 14.5 degree Celsius temperature today which was 5.0 degree Celsius above normal; Qazigund recorded 14. 4 degree Celsius which is 5.3 degree Celsius above normal; Pahalgam maximum of 10.2 deg C which is 3.8 degree Celsius above normal; Kupwara 13.7 degree Celsius, 4. 9 degree above normal while Gulmarg maximum of 6.5 degree Celsius which is 5.3 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Jammu recorded a day temperature of 22.6 degree Celsius which is 1.3 degrees above normal and a night temperature of 7.8 deg C; Holy township of Katra recorded a maximum temperature of 21.5 deg C, 2.8 deg above normal and a minimum temperature of 6.6 degC; Bhaderwah town a maximum temperature of 18.0 deg C, 5.2 deg above normal and minimum temp of -0.6 while Batote town settled for a maximum temperature of 17.7 deg C, 5.9 deg above normal and a minimum temperature of -0.3 deg C today.
A Meteorological Department official said that the weather is expected to be dry till February 17. “Overall, dry weather is expected till February 17 with occasionally cloudy evenings during February 14.”
He said that during February 18-20, there is a possibility of light snow and rain in the region.
